There have been many methods of classification before. This article only introduces the classification methods that are often used now. According to this method, there are four types of steam traps:
(1) Thermodynamic type
This is a type of trap designed and manufactured based on the principle of steam thermodynamics. The thermal power is its original name. Nowadays, many manufacturers have improved the thermal power, and even the name has been changed to the disc type. In fact, there is no basic principle. Great changes, but all kinds of performance and service life have been greatly improved.
(2) Thermostatic type products are manufactured by using the temperature effect of certain materials, such as bellows, bellows, double steel sheets, bimetals, and memory alloys (currently immature). This type of product is called thermostatic type because there is no big noise when it is working.
(3) Mechanical type
As the name suggests, this type of product relies on the mechanical movement of the parts inside the valve to achieve the function of the trap. Such as floating bucket, inverted floating bucket, inverted bucket, lever float, free float, free half float and so on. The purely mechanical type does not automatically exclude the function of non-condensing gas, but instead relies on manual to achieve this purpose.
(4) Hybrid
The so-called hybrid type is actually a combination of more than two types of the above three types, and most of them are a combination of mechanical type and thermostatic type. For example, the lever float produced today should actually be called a bimetallic lever float. This is true for inverted buckets, free floats and pistons.
